The last weeks of pregnancy are a long list. This is one thing you can tick off early.

More about this guide

By the third trimester the list keeps growing. Hospital bag. Baby shopping. Labour classes. The birth plan. Underneath it sits a quieter question almost nobody prepares for: what happens to you after.

The 40 days after birth have always had a plan. Warm food, gentle spices, healing fats, and someone else in the kitchen. This is that plan, written down from one family's handwritten notebook.

Read it once, order the pantry list, hand it to whoever will cook. Then let the rest of your list have your attention.

This guide is perfect for

  • Moms-to-be planning the fourth trimester before it arrives
  • New mothers in nuclear homes, without a dadi or nani in the kitchen
  • The person who will actually cook, your mother, partner or house help
  • Gift buyers looking for something a new mother will really use
What's inside
  • All 40 days, day by day, in four phases
  • One master table: every meal, every day, on a single page
  • 12 traditional recipes with exact measures, from gond ki paat to sonth laddoo
  • A shopping list with quantities, and easy swaps for what you cannot find
  • What is normal after birth, and the signs that mean call your doctor
  • 34 pages. Plus a printable tick sheet, a glossary and the optional rituals
Why we made this guide

The japa tradition is intact in a mother's mind and missing from her kitchen. The grandmother who cooked it lives in another city. The recipes were never written down.

Our founder followed this exact plan for her full 40 days, from a notebook her mother-in-law wrote out by hand. She healed well. She felt held.

This guide is that notebook, organised so another mother does not have to piece it together alone.

Adapt it to your region, your taste and most importantly your doctor's advice. It is a loving framework, not a rulebook.

Which kosha this serves

In Pancha Kosha philosophy, you are 5 layers: body, breath, mind, wisdom and bliss. This guide serves the first, and the one most neglected after birth.

Body (Annamaya): a body that has just given birth is rebuilding blood, tissue and strength, and making milk while it does it. Food is the medicine of this period, and the tradition knew which food, in which order, at which stage.

Our books, cards and journals serve the layers above it. This one starts where recovery starts.

This guide records a traditional family practice, blending Marwari and Maharashtrian customs, and is shared for cultural and educational purposes. It is not medical advice. Please check the plan, especially the herbal preparations, with your doctor before following it, particularly after a caesarean or if you have any medical condition.
